Hello, I am Parth Shah

About Me
I grew up with an ardent love for mathematical puzzles, creating a need to understand the how and why of any fact presented to me. With that idea becoming the foundation of my work ethic, I believe that I am now driven, knowledgeable, resourceful, and a quick learner for any task I pick up. I hope to bring this very work ethic to any organization I work with.
I emigrated to Canada at the start of 2019, seeking North America’s work culture that encourages bold ideation and provides the opportunities to execute it. As a Data Analyst at Thinkific, I’ve supported multiple feature releases from connecting with Engineers to setup event tracking, to developing KPI focused dashboards that stakeholders care about. I have also been the SME for A/B testing within the Data team, leading Checkout page tests.
Before Thinkific, as an Operations Analyst at FIS Global, I created a dashboard for our internal ticketing system to better facilitate work distribution. This simple change decreased our average turn-around time by 20%. I also led the restructuring of the client site monitoring tool, ThousandEyes, that gave the company better insight into when and why sites went down. This restructuring reduced site issue resolution time, leading to higher customer satisfaction.
Alongside my day job, I enjoy solving data challenges in my personal time. In a heated discussion with a friend over the role of genre and budget on the worldwide gross collection of a movie, I took two days to scrape IMDb and presented my case. I am also constantly looking to learn new things. I’ve recently become interested in NLP and linguistics related analysis, which I hope to get into over next few months.
I have always been a go-getter. Right out of high school, I co-founded India’s first youth centric magazine – Youth Connect. I managed a team of 20 editors and content writers as a Managing Editor for close to 4 years. This included taking research and creative calls. After that, I did an intensive 2-year Masters’ degree from NYU in Management of Technology, where my passion for data analytics truly grew. Following a personal family tragedy, I moved back to India and secured a job within a short span as a Business Consultant for a fast growing startup by the name of DataOne Innovation Labs. Here, I became the right-hand man to the CEO, leading everything from stand-up Scrum meetings to the project plan, managing hiring to client communication, generating leads to analyzing client satisfaction. My hard work brought about a lot of focus and growth for the company.
All of this has been a way for me to say that no matter where I am, I give it my all. I do not shy away from a challenge, and a challenge is what I am looking for. My knowledge and experience brought me here, and I aim to keep growing!
Areas of Interest
Statistical Analysis
At the start of any project, it is important to study the data you already have and what insights it can provide. You’d be surprised by what you find.
Predictive Analysis
Making predictions is a big part Data Analytics. Understanding your data enough to be able to predict where it will go next is an appealing study.
Visualization
How you tell a story decides what the story will be. This applies even more so to Data Visualization where the story can easily be changed just by what chart you present.
Business Intelligence
Any business collects and analyze data to make better decisions for itself in the long-term. The long list of available BI tools makes this a fun process.
Machine Learning
Machine Learning sounds so vague, magical and futuristic. It is all that, but the fun is in the underlying math and why any algorithm works better over another.
NLP
This is a growing interest field of mine. Communication between machines and human is a fascinating challenge and I’d love to be a part of it.
